Themed “Smart Living · Sustainable Future,” this year’s IFA focuses on cutting-edge technologies including artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and green innovations. The exhibition is expected to feature over 2,000 exhibitors and attract roughly 245,000 to 250,000 visitors.

Chinese tech giants such as Hisense, Lenovo, and DJI have all used the platform to showcase their latest technological achievements, standing out as some of the brightest highlights of the event. Among these, the competition in RGB-Mini LED TV technology has drawn the most attention, featuring a direct showdown between Chinese, Japanese, and Korean television manufacturers.

This face-off reflects the increasingly fierce global race in high-end display technologies, where advancements in mini-LED and RGB backlighting are seen as critical for the next generation of televisions.

Hisense unveiled the world’s first mass-produced RGB-Mini LED TV, along with a full range of smart home appliances. At the IFA, Samsung showcased its first 115-inch RGB Micro LED TV featuring RGB-Mini LED technology, while Sony followed closely behind with its self-developed RGB high-density LED display system.

According to the latest updates, in the 2025 IFA Innovation Awards, Hisense received a total of nine honors across multiple products, including TVs, air conditioners, and washing machines, cementing its leading position in the display and smart living sectors. Notably, in the home entertainment category, Hisense’s world-exclusive largest-size RGB-Mini LED TV won the 2025 IFA Honorary Award.

“2025 has become the ‘Year One’ for RGB-Mini LED in the TV industry,” an industry insider told TMTPost. “A new round of competition in display technology has already begun. As the only brand to have successfully mass-produced and commercialized this technology, Hisense has, for the first time, become the benchmark for the global display industry.”

RGB: A Milestone Moment

On the opening day of the 2025 IFA, Hisense became the center of attention.

At the exhibition, although Samsung, Sony, and Hisense all showcased RGB-Mini LED technology and related products, the Hisense booth undoubtedly attracted the largest number of visitors and overseas channel partners among the three brands. At the Hisense booth, staff conducted a comparative demonstration of the evolution of RGB three-color backlighting, vividly illustrating the revolutionary leap from monochrome to three-color backlighting.

With the support of RGB technology, the world’s first high-end RGB-MiniLED TV, the Hisense U7S Pro, delivers a purer picture, more realistic and delicate colors, richer and clearer details, and a naturally immersive viewing experience.

This impressive display performance is mainly attributed to two key products showcased by Hisense at the event: the world’s first RGB light and color co-control AI picture quality chip, and a world-leading high-performance RGB-Mini LED chip.

Among them, Hisense’s new-generation Xinxin AI picture quality chip H7 boasts a 40% increase in single-core CPU performance, a 70% boost in perceptual scene computing power, and has doubled its scene adaptation computing capability.

It is also the world’s first picture quality chip to support RGB light and color co-control, enabling ultra-fine 108-bit control. Compared to standard chips, it achieves a 430% improvement in the precision of hue, saturation, and brightness control. Combined with intelligent real-time scene analysis, it can automatically adjust the brightness of the three primary color light sources, delivering high-precision color control and providing users with richer, more nuanced color details.

The other RGB-Mini LED backlight chip overcomes core challenges in the application of LED three-color chips, such as efficiency, lifespan, color deviation, and color purity. It is also the first to achieve industrial-scale production of three primary color light sources, making Hisense the world’s first brand to achieve mass production of RGB-MiniLED technology.

This is virtually the ultimate solution in the global display industry today. Academician Ding Wenhua of the Chinese Academy of Engineering praised it, stating, "Hisense has opened up an entirely new realm of possibilities for technological revolution in the global display industry."

Precisely because of Hisense’s remarkable achievements, industry giants like Samsung and Sony—who abandoned this technological path over a decade ago—have chosen to re-enter the RGB-Mini LED market at the 2025 IFA, attempting to catch up with Hisense’s lead.

Industry analysis indicates that the entry of international brands such as Samsung and Sony will further drive down the cost of RGB-Mini LED technology and accelerate its market adoption. With ongoing technological breakthroughs and expanding application scenarios, RGB-Mini LED is poised to become the mainstream direction for high-end displays. Meanwhile, China’s early-mover advantage and technological independence in this field will help propel the global display industry toward a new stage of high-quality development.

It can be said that the RGB technology path, which Hisense has steadfastly pursued for over a decade, finally reached its milestone moment during the 2025 IFA.

Chinese Technology Enters a "Period of Explosive Growth"

In fact, beyond leading the industry, Chinese technological prowess—represented by Hisense—is generating a significant "spillover effect" on a much broader scale.

In the highly regarded European market, considered a stronghold for premium brands, Hisense’s smart large-screen refrigerator, priced at nearly 3,000 euros, saw its overseas sales increase by 2.8 times year-on-year from January to June this year, showcasing the robust competitiveness of Chinese brands in the global high-end home appliance sector.

Hisense washing machines have also performed impressively in overseas markets: in June, sales in the UK soared to the number one spot; in Croatia, Serbia, and several other countries, market share surpassed 30%, securing a top-three position locally.

To meet the global demand for energy efficiency, Chinese companies led by Hisense are accelerating their integration into the European market with smarter, more efficient, and more environmentally friendly products. In the first half of 2025, Hisense air conditioners achieved significant sales growth in countries such as Italy, Hungary, and Spain.

Even more noteworthy, at the exhibition, Hisense Group CEO Yu Zhitao and FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai jointly raised the FIFA World Cup Trophy to officially announce—Hisense has become an official partner of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“We believe the World Cup is a bridge that connects the world. Looking back, I feel immensely proud that together with Hisense, we have made history,” said Romy Gai, FIFA’s Chief Business Officer, as he highly praised the partnership between FIFA and Hisense. He noted that from brand collaboration in 2018, to content cooperation in 2022, and this year’s support for the video assistant referee (VAR) system at the FIFA Club World Cup with Hisense’s display technology, both sides have continuously expanded the breadth and depth of their cooperation based on shared values, working together to elevate football to an entirely new level.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino further revealed, “FIFA has extended its long-term partnership with Hisense. This leading brand in the home appliance and television industry has been confirmed as an official sponsor of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.”

“Our partnership with Hisense began in 2017 and has since covered the past two FIFA World Cups, as well as the inaugural 32-team FIFA Club World Cup recently held in the United States—where Hisense was honored as the very first official partner in the history of this groundbreaking tournament,” he added.

Public data shows that Hisense has consecutively sponsored two World Cups, three European Championships, and the Club World Cup, among other top global sporting events.

During UEFA Euro 2024, Hisense, as the official display partner for VAR (Video Assistant Referee), provided display technology support for the VAR referee headquarters in Leipzig. This also marked the first time in UEFA history that exclusive VAR display rights were granted.

In 2025, Hisense’s RGB-Mini LED technology will make its debut at the Club World Cup. Around the tournament venues and in the VAR referee rooms, Hisense provided screen support for VAR technology at this year’s World Cup, helping referees make more accurate decisions.

For the 2026 World Cup, the shared vision between FIFA and Hisense is to further enhance every football fan’s viewing experience through technological advancements. At the same time, they will continue to explore new areas and develop high-definition content and experiences, bringing fans closer to the action than ever before.

“I may not be able to describe it in the most technical terms, but I can say with confidence: we will deliver the most inclusive, most connected, and most inspiring FIFA World Cup in history. Football unites the world—and Hisense’s display technology makes this unity clearer than ever before,” said Romy Gai.

This means that Hisense’s RGB-Mini LED technology is now leading the way in high-end displays, becoming FIFA’s firm official choice. For the first time, the right to define the big-screen viewing experience of a world-class sporting event is in the hands of a Chinese company. According to Ipsos research, from 2018 to 2024, Hisense’s overall overseas brand awareness jumped from 30% to 56%.

Beyond Technological Leadership: Committed to Making Technology Accessible to All

“Technological innovation must not only reach for the heights of the world’s frontiers, but also be grounded in serving the needs of industry.”

Jia Shaoqian, Chairman of Hisense Group, once stated that Hisense, as a major enterprise, should set an example and take the lead in deeply integrating technological and industrial innovation, so that more scientific and technological achievements can move out of the laboratory and onto the production line, accelerating the development of new quality productivity.

Clearly, in Jia Shaoqian’s view, the goal of technological R&D is not only to achieve leadership in technology, but also to focus on practical applications, enabling ordinary people to benefit from technological progress and truly realize technology for all.

During IFA 2025, Hisense put this technological philosophy into practice.

In January this year, Hisense officially unveiled its RGB three-dimensional color control LCD display technology at CES, and took the lead in launching the 116-inch RGB-Mini LED TV UX. This product was officially released in March, becoming the world’s first mass-produced RGB-Mini LED TV model. To this day, it remains the only RGB-Mini LED TV available for sale worldwide that has achieved mass production.

At this year’s IFA launch event, Hisense continued its momentum by unveiling the world’s first high-end RGB-MiniLED TV, the U7S Pro.

Leveraging advancements in Hisense’s RGB-Mini LED technology, the U7S Pro achieves 100% BT.2020 wide color gamut, up to 100% color purity, and low blue light eye protection, delivering outstanding performance across the board. The TV also features the industry-leading Black Obsidian Pro anti-reflective screen, which can dynamically adjust picture parameters in real time based on ambient light signals and content source data, minimizing picture distortion caused by environmental light interference.

In simple terms, the U7S Pro inherits all the core advantages of RGB-MiniLED technology: wide color gamut, high-precision color control, low blue light for eye comfort, and a comfortable large-screen viewing experience. Yet, it comes at a more accessible price point and will be mass-produced and available by the end of September in three sizes: 75, 85, and 100 inches.

This means that from mass-producing the world’s first RGB-Mini LED ultra-flagship TV, the Hisense UX, to launching the U7S Pro—an RGB-Mini LED TV accessible to the general public—Hisense has rewritten traditional market rules in just eight months through rapid technological breakthroughs and efficient supply chain integration.

Currently, the world’s first mass-produced Hisense RGB-Mini LED TV, the UX, has been on the market for five months and is now officially available in nearly 20 countries worldwide. Next, the RGB-Mini LED U7S Pro is set to open a brand new chapter for the global display industry.

There’s no doubt that Hisense has taken another significant step forward—making cutting-edge technology accessible to all and enabling the world to share in the benefits of technological innovation.

With international brands like Samsung and Sony joining the fray, the cost of RGB-Mini LED technology is expected to decrease further, accelerating its market adoption. In this competitive yet collaborative ecosystem—driven by Chinese innovation and global participation—Hisense’s commitment to technological leadership and inclusive innovation is poised to become the new norm for Chinese tech companies expanding abroad in a new era.
